Health & Safety — Walking with Care

Guided with Care

Our role as guides is simple but essential.

We take responsibility for:

  • route planning and safety

  • pacing and group wellbeing

  • sharing local knowledge of flora, fauna, and landscape history

When people trust that they are being well guided, they are free to enjoy the experience fully — without having to think about what comes next.

This sense of safety is what allows the walk to feel both liberating and restorative.

Public Liability Insurance

Euro Goat Trekkers operates with public liability insurance through Berkley España.

The policy includes coverage for:

  • accidental death

  • permanent or partial disability caused by accident

  • healthcare in affiliated medical centres

  • rescue and salvage expenses

This coverage helps ensure that appropriate assistance and support are available should an incident occur during a guided walk.

Participant Guidelines

To ensure the safety and wellbeing of all participants, certain conditions apply.

The insurance policy places restrictions on coverage for:

  • persons under 14 years of age

  • persons over 65 years of age

Because of this, longer treks are generally designed for participants between 14 and 65 years of age.

Children under 14 may join shorter walks when accompanied by a responsible adult.

Participants outside the insured age range may still join a walk after signing a participation disclaimer acknowledging the nature of the activity.

Route Planning and Access

Although the mountain paths may feel remote, all routes are carefully selected with safety in mind.

Where possible, our trekking routes remain within approximately 500 metres of a vehicle-accessible road. This allows assistance or transport to be arranged quickly if required.

On longer walks:

  • two guides accompany the group

  • an additional guide remains on call in the valley

This ensures that if a participant needs to return early or requires medical attention for a minor injury such as a sprained ankle, assistance can be arranged quickly.

Walking at a Comfortable Pace

Our walks are designed to be slow, relaxed experiences rather than strenuous hikes.

The presence of the goats naturally encourages a steady pace with regular pauses. This allows participants to enjoy the landscape while ensuring that the group remains comfortable and supported throughout the walk.
