Trail Etiquette —
Respecting the Landscape
Walking Lightly in the Valley
Sustainability at Euro Goat Trekkers is not a statement; it is a daily practice.
Our goats are pack goats in training, and their intermittent grazing during walks helps to:
-
manage undergrowth
-
reduce the spread of invasive plant species
-
encourage the growth of native vegetation
By moving slowly and attentively through the land, we minimise impact while deepening understanding. We believe that meaningful experiences in nature naturally foster respect, care, and long-term stewardship.

Respecting the Land
The mountain paths around Tàrbena are shared spaces used for farming, walking, and traditional rural activities. When walking with us, we follow a few simple principles that help protect the landscape and respect the people who live and work here.
Stay on established paths
Following existing tracks helps protect vegetation and prevents erosion.
Respect livestock and wildlife
Farm animals and wild animals have priority in the landscape. We give them space and move calmly when passing.
Close gates behind you
Many paths cross working farmland. If we open a gate, we always close it again.
Take nothing and leave nothing
We carry all litter out with us and leave the landscape as we found it.
Walk quietly and attentively
The valley is home to farmers, wildlife, and other walkers. Moving calmly helps preserve the peaceful character of the mountains.
A Shared Landscape
The terraces, almond groves, and mountain paths around Tàrbena have been shaped by generations of farmers and shepherds.
Walking here is not only a visit to nature — it is an encounter with a living rural landscape. This quieter side of the region is sometimes described as the Quiet Costa Blanca, where small mountain villages, traditional terraces, and slow paths offer a different way to experience the Mediterranean landscape.
By moving thoughtfully through it, we help ensure that the land remains healthy and welcoming for everyone who follows the path.
“Leave only footprints, take only memories.”
